The subject quotation provides the following coverage:
Public and Products Liability
The insurer will cover your legal liability to pay compensation for:
- personal injury;
- property damage to property that is neither owned by or leased or rented to you or not in your physical and legal control;
- advertising injury;
which happens during the period of insurance and is caused by an occurrence in connection with your business within the geographical limit.
General Property (Tools)
The insurer will cover you for insured loss to any insured items anywhere in Australia up to the sum insured shown on your Insurance Certificate that occurs during the period of insurance.
General Property cannot be placed on its own, it must be written with the Liability.

Subject to satisfactory answers to the following questions:
In the last five (5) years ever had any insurer decline any claim or proposal, cancel or refuse to renew a policy, or increase the premium or impose special conditions?
In the last five (5) years ever been placed in receivership or liquidation or declared bankrupt or are you in the process of being declared bankrupt?
In the last five (5) years been convicted of or had any fines or penalties imposed for any crime involving drugs, dishonesty, arson, theft, fraud or violence, or any other criminal offence?
If you answer yes to any of the above questions, we will need to refer to the underwriter for confirmation of the quotation (and the above quote is invalid).
- Subject to a satisfactory completed proposal form within 7 days of policy inception
- Subject to payment of the annual premium within 14 days of policy inception
- A Certificate of Currency will only be provided once payment has been made in full and the proposal form has been returned

If you are a company or have employees you will also need Workers Compensation to cover the medical & rehab costs associated with injury to employees, as well as their loss of earnings. If you are a sole trader or partnership, you would be wise to have a Personal Accident & Sickness policy to cover your loss of earnings in the event you cannot work. You may also consider covering your tools and any other portable property against loss or damage and obviously any motor vehicles or plant & machinery that you own.

Yes, definitely. You have the same exposure as a company, plus you can be held personally liable. At a minimum you should have Public & Products Liability insurance to protect you against claims by third parties for any damage you may cause to property, or injury caused to another person. Any changes to your business activities must be approved by the underwriter in advance. You are covered for the business activities noted in your Schedule of Insurance. If you are to change your business activities, please call us beforehand.
Yes, the excess is $500 each & every event.
No, the policy excludes liability of contractors and sub-contractors (also labour hire personnel you may hire into your business). You will be covered for your vicarious liability arising from the actions of these tradespersons, however the insurer will likely seek recovery from the negligent party. As such you should ensure that all contractors, sub-contractors and labour hire personnel you engage have their own Public & Products Liability and Workers Compensation insurance.
